Anderson Ready to Move Up at Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals
Greg Anderson is prepared to celebrate in the winner’s circle the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals at Summit Racing Motorsports Park in Norwalk, Ohio. Anderson has won there twice (2008 and 2010) and his Summit Racing teammate Jason Line was the winner in 2009.
Last week at the O’Reilly Auto Parts Route 66 Nationals in Chicago, Anderson moved up to 11th in the Pro Stock points standings—just 25 points out of the Top 10—with one of his best qualifying performances of the year.
"We had a great race in Chicago, and we left there feeling positive about our performance and that we can find success," said Anderson. "That extra pressure of racing at our sponsor's title event seems to sit well with us. Even when we haven't been doing well, we are somehow able to turn it on when we come to the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals."
Anderson has 74 national event wins in the books, which puts him at Number 8 him on the list of all-time winningest drivers in the history of NHRA. He has been frustratingly close to winning this year with final round finishes in Atlanta and Englishtown, and hopes that this weekend will be win number 75.
"It will come," said Anderson. "But right now we know we need more than luck to get us to that final round and finally close the deal. Everything has to be perfect. This weekend would be the right place and the right time for it to happen, for us and for our good friends at Summit Racing Equipment."
