Line Captures Second Win of Season!
After qualifying Number 3, 2006 NHRA POWERade Pro Stock champ Jason Line drove around Warren Johnson, Kurt Johnson, Greg Stanfield, and Allen Johnson to capture his second national event victory of the season at the 21st annual Schuck's Auto Supply NHRA Nationals. Line's Summit Racing Pontiac GXP also set top speed of the meet during Friday time trials at 210.14 mph.
In the opening round, Line defeated Warren Johnson's 6.663 second/208.88 mph pass with a 6.652/207.11 blast down Pacific Raceway's quarter-mile track. Kurt Johnson fell to Line in the quarter finals, 6.639/208.04 mph to 6.625/209.20, and Greg Stanfield's day was ended by Line in the semifinals, 6.657/207.82 to 7.102/151.31. Line's opponent in the final round was Allen Johnson, who had lane choice. At the flash of green, Line's Summit Racing Pontiac jumped out in front of Johnson's Dodge and stayed there until the pair crossed the finish line. Line stopped the clocks with a solid 6.659/208.10 pass; Johnson recorded a 6.664/207.78 mph run. This weekend's win marked the 15th career victory for the former Pro Stock champion and his fifth final round appearance this season. It was also the fourth straight win for Summit Racing Equipment dating back to the Lucas Oil SuperNationals last month in Englishtown, NJ. Line heads to the next race on the POWERade schedule third in the points chase, just 10 points out of second place. |
